Chevron Energy Solutions has completed the installation of a 1.15MW PV system at Dinuba’s wastewater treatment plant. The ground-mounted array, which sits atop a capped landfill adjacent to the plant, is made up of 4,704 modules and is expected to help cut the city’s electrical utility consumption by 70%.
Funding for the development came from Tioga Energy, which also owns and manages the site. All the electricity generated is being sold back to the city under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
“The Chevron Energy Solutions team was relentless in its commitment to seeing this project to completion, bringing in the necessary partners such as Tioga Energy to provide funding, ongoing management and incentives,” said Ed Todd, the city manager for the Dinuba. “We are grateful to all the teams involved for their dedication in enabling the City of Dinuba to realize the benefits of solar energy without compromising budget.”
The system will be formally opened this morning, with the city’s government, business and community leaders all expected to attend.
