Tioga Energy has been brought on by Chevron Energy Solutions to help develop a 1.15MW solar PV system at the City of Dinuba’s wastewater treatment plant. PV-Tech learned that the California-based project will be using 4,704 PV modules from SolarWorld, while inverters will be provided by SMA. The ground-mounted system will sit on top of a capped landfill near Dinuba’s wastewater treatment facility.
Tioga Energy will finance, manage and own the project through its SurePath™ Solar PPA and will sell the produced electricity back to the city at predictable rates over a period of 20 years. Chevron Energy will oversee the design, engineering and construction for the solar installation.
“The City of Dinuba had a noteworthy vision to transform an otherwise unusable site into a clean energy-generating asset for the community,” said Jim Davis, president of Chevron Energy Solutions. “When the project experienced some financing roadblocks, Tioga Energy stepped in to help the city complete the project. Working together, Chevron Energy Solutions and Tioga Energy are proud to provide the residents of Dinuba with a new solar energy landmark.”
This is the second project Tioga and Chevron have worked on together. Earlier this year, the two companies developed a solar parking canopy at Oceanic Time Warner Cable’s Mililani Tech Park facility in Hawaii. The City of Dinuba’s solar project should be completed in Q4 2011.
