Tioga Energy announced that it had completed its first PV projects in Connecticut. The company constructed two solar systems for the town of West Hartford, which total 160kW. The installations are serving the municipality-owned West Hartford Department of Public Works and the Bishops Corner Library. Aegis Solar managed the installation services for both projects.
The systems used a SurePath Solar PPA from Tioga, which will see the town purchase the energy produced by the systems at a rate lower than that offered by the local utility. The 20-year PPA is expected to save the town US$244,000 in electricity expenses over two decades.
“Tioga Energy was relentless in their determination to get our solar project completed. They were able to overcome challenges in financing the project and got our systems constructed in less than two months once those issues were resolved,” said Chris Johnson, director of financial services for West Hartford. “Thanks to Tioga, we’re able to see our solar vision come to fruition and we look forward to passing our utility savings along to our residents.”
