Summary

We are looking for an experienced professional to sit in a central position within our business. Provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning and reporting; construction, tax equity and debt financing; and budget management functions. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Tioga Energy provides competitively priced, easily accessible, renewable photovoltaic (PV) solar electricity. In the past, solar electricity has been available only through expensive and complicated facility ownership. Tioga provides a compelling alternative to its customers – a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) that is simple, straightforward, and does not involve any upfront capital investment from the customer, yet enables customers to reap the benefits of renewable solar electricity at a competitive price.

ABOUT YOU

What you’ll be doing

  • Directing the financial affairs of the organization and preparing financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements.
  • Broadening the company’s financial plans, policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community and the maintenance of its fiscal records.
  • Ensuring revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP with particular focus on construction accounting.
  • Supervising over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing and budgetary controls.
  • Developing, analyzing and interpreting accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget and other matters bearing on operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Maintaining the company’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
  • Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts; institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures and analyzes and reports variances.
  • Directing tax planning and compliance with all federal, state and local corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes.
  • Furnishing internal reports, revising and updating reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishing external reports as necessary.
  • Evaluating and recommending insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Responsible for annual audit preparation and completion of required financial statements
  • Participating in specialized projects as required to support company development and personal advancement
  • Recruiting and training department staff as the company grows.

Your background

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and profitability analysis.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting, five to ten years of experience in senior-level finance or accounting position, and a CPA.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, unstructured environment.
  • Passionate about renewable energy and willing to work at a hands on level.
